What is a Park Model Home?
Park Models are cabins or cottages that are built to RV standards and are used as
permanent residences, vacation homes, hunting and fishing cabins among other things.
They are found at RV parks and on private land. They are built on a metal frame with
wheels and are limited to 400 square feet of living area. Some have lofts or porches that
additional space.
How is a Park Model different from a travel trailer?
The main difference between a park model and a travel trailer is that Park Models are
intended to be placed solely at a site with hook-ups for sewer and water, unlike a travel
trailer, which is equipped with holding tanks.
What options are available for Park Models?
Park Models can be made with all of the same amenities that are found in most traditional
homes. They have full-sized bathtubs, appliances, cabinets, and many have upgrades
such as granite countertops and hardi plank siding.
What are some other uses for Park Models?
Since Park Models can look just like a larger home, many people who are building a home
on their own land will live in a Park Model while the construction of their home is ongoing.
Then when the construction is completed, the Park Model makes an excellent Pool House
or guest cabin.
